Article I
Article I in the Constitution discusses the Legislative Branch. The Legislative Branch's job is to make the laws for the country. It consists of Congress: The House of Representatives and the Senate. In order to run for Senate, you must live in the state you want to represent, be a citizen for at least 9 years, and you have to be at least 30 years old. A senator serves a term of 6 years. To be a Representative in the House, you must live in the state you want to represent, be a citizen for at least 7 years, and you have to be at least 25 years old. Representatives serve 2 year terms.
Article II
Article II talks about the Executive Branch. It's job is to execute, or enforce the laws. It consists of The President, the Vice president, and the Cabinet. The President serves a 4 year term and can serve up to 2 terms consecutively. (S)He must be at least 35 years old and must be a natural born citizen of the United States. The Vice President serves the same term lengths as the president they're working with and they too must be 35 years old. The Cabinet is a group of people who help the President to help the country. There's a different Cabinet member for each service, such as Secretary of State, Secretary of Education, Transportation, etc. Together, the President, VP and Cabinet members make decisions that effect the whole country, and they work hard to make it better for the people.
Article III
Article III is about the Judicial Branch. Their job is to interpret the laws for the country. The court system has many different courts for many different reasons, such as divorce, but the highest court is the Supreme Court. There are 9 Supreme Court justices and they serve as justices until they decide to retire. They are appointed by the President and approved by Congress. There are no age requirements for a justice. In the Supreme Court, they decide whether Constitutional rights were violated among the people of the U.S. and their decisions must be unbiased and based strictly on the Constitution. This helps to make sure that we have our rights secured.
